In the early morning hours of June 10, a number of unlocked vehicles were entered and numerous items were stolen in the Canmore area. There was also a number of occurrences that involved garage door openers being used to gain access to garages and further thefts taking place.

While a Canmore RCMP member was responding to a call of a break-in to a garage he located a suspicious male lurking near vehicles in the area of Railway Avenue and Pinewood Crescent. The male got into a dark colored Chrysler 300 and the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed. Police did not pursue the vehicle after initial attempts to stop it failed.

The next day, a credit card that had been reported stolen was used at the Canmore 7-11.  Surveillance footage has been obtained of the suspect, and RCMP said he appears to be the same person who was seen lurking around vehicles and fleeing from police the night before.

Canmore RCMP are asking that if anyone recognizes the male subject or if they have any information regarding this or any other criminal activity, please call (403)678-5519.  If you wish to remain anonymous you may contact Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or online at Crimestoppers.ca.
